The Afropolitan was recently treated to an evening of fine dining and an overnight stay at the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport. It was such a surprise to walk in from the total hustle and bustle of the airport into the peace and relaxed atmosphere of the hotel, which is literally only 68.7 metres' walking distance from the International Arrivals terminal!
Perfectly located for business and leisure travellers, the hotel rooms are beautifully decorated – a space where you can relax and unwind before or after a long flight, or a perfect little breakaway if you need one.
The hotel's restaurant, Quills, operates 24 hours and has an array of dishes that showcase local and international flavours. An 18-metre (59 foot) porcupine quill mobile suspended from the ceiling of the restaurant sets the tone, as does the dramatic collage of traditional African masks. We were treated by incredible Chef Yoshin Naidoo and his team to an incredible five-course meal.

The 8th floor of the hotel has spectacular views overlooking the O.R. Tambo Airport and here you can watch the planes take off and land. There's also an indoor heated pool and a stunning gym, but if you want to be a little indulgent, the Camelot Spa offers incredible treatments.
